Legacy of Dead Demo: What Play'n GO's Free Build Shows

In short: Play'n GO's free Legacy of Dead launcher is the studio's own build, which opens on a 25,000.00 play balance at a 1.00 bet, needs no account, and costs nothing beyond an 18+ confirmation.

You get the whole game in the demo, free spins, Gamble and every speed control included, behind just the studio's 18+ prompt. The one thing missing is a return figure: the rules this build loads skip it.

What the Free Launcher Loads

The demo runs on Play'n GO's own launcher, opened from the studio's game page after an 18+ prompt. It carries the full game: five reels, up to ten lines, the free spins, the Gamble and the complete control bar. It runs on play money from the first spin to the last. The studio's own footer puts it bluntly: "No purchase is required to enjoy Play'n GO games."

Three steppers set the stake: lines, coins per line and coin value. The bet is simply their product. Ten lines of five coins at 0.02 gives the opening 1.00; the same ten lines at 2.00 a coin give the 100.00 top.

One launch ended early.

After several minutes of play the launcher showed "Your session has timed out" and asked for a fresh log-on, and the next launch opened on 25,000.00 again. We saw it once, on a launch outside the five counted on this page, which makes it an observation, not a rule.

Opening the Legacy of Dead Demo

Getting in takes three clicks: load the demo on this page or on Play'n GO's game page, confirm you are 18 or over, then close the start screen.

No form, no e-mail address, no deposit.

The start screen sells the feature before anything else, with the line "Activate up to 9 special EXPANDING SYMBOLS!", and a "Don't show again" box hides it on later visits. Behind it the reels wait at 1.00 a spin.

How Far 25,000.00 Goes

At the opening 1.00 bet, 25,000.00 pays for 25,000 spins before a single win comes back; at the 100.00 top it pays for 250. At 1.00 the first number is academic: our one timeout came after several minutes, nowhere near 25,000 spins. At the top stake the balance is thin, and a fast sitting could burn through 250 spins.

Every relaunch resets the balance, so a losing streak in the demo is free.

Honestly, that is also its weakness as practice. A run that can always be reset says very little about how losing real money would feel.

Five Launches, 205 Spins

We ran 205 paid spins at 1.00 through this demo on , split over five launches, each starting from 25,000.00. Every server response went into a log, which is where the figures below come from.

Our 74.6% sits 22 points below the studio's printed 96.58%, and a short run can land that far from the long-run figure, or further, in either direction.

What the Demo Cannot Tell You

The demo cannot measure the return, and it cannot show which setting any other site runs. Its server tags every session with a configuration called 96, and that tag is a name, not a return. The only percentage the studio prints, 96.58%, lives in the rules it serves for Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark and Germany, while the rules this demo loads leave it out. Catalogues list four lower settings as well: 94.51%, 91.51%, 87.56% and 84.55%. Those rest on catalogue claims alone, and the free build cannot show which setting any other build runs. Volatility and hit frequency stay unpublished too, on the game page, in the rules for every market we pulled and in the client configuration. That leaves a careful reader with one printed figure, one session label and four rumours.

A few hundred spins leave those gaps open. Ours produced two features in 205 spins, which is two data points and a hunch at best. So use the demo as a manual for the mechanics, and keep it away from questions about money.

Rules Screens Inside the Demo

The demo holds two reference screens, a three-page paytable and a written rules page, each one tap from the reels. The paytable ends on "WIN UP TO 250000 COINS!", and its last page shows the five letter and number symbols at 120 or 80 coins for five.

The rules screen confirms eight free spins, the 50% and 25% Gamble odds and the 2,500-coin Gamble limit. It also explains unfinished rounds: undecided bets go void after 90 days.

Speed Controls Left Switched On

All four controls that hurry play stay switched on in this build: Auto Play, Hyper Spin, Fast Play and the Stop button. The rules served for Great Britain describe none of them. Those for Sweden and Denmark keep Auto Play and Stop; the German rules keep only Stop. Auto Play offers 10, 20, 50, 75 or 100 spins. When we opened it, "If free spins are won" was ticked as a stop, while the stops on a single win and on a balance rise or fall sat at 0.00.

The free build's Auto Play dialog: 10 to 100 spins, a stop on free spins ticked, and three limits left at 0.00. Source: our own screenshot.

We do not recommend Hyper Spin while learning the game. Holding the space bar for 1.5 seconds speeds the spins up "immensely", in the rules' own word, and a reel that blurs past teaches very little.

Demo or Real Money

The demo and a real-money build can look like two different games. The launcher loads the version with no market set; the versions for Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark and Germany print 96.58% in their rules and drop Hyper Spin and Fast Play.

Raise the bet per line to 1.00 and the German build drops to five lines to stay inside its 5.00 maximum. Source: our own screenshot.

The German build shows how far apart they can sit. It keeps "RTP 96.58%" and "Max win Probability: 1:371747" on a strip above the reels, caps the bet at 5.00 and holds every round to at least 5 seconds. Push the bet per line to 1.00 there and the client cuts the lines to five on its own. The studio's free demo never loads that build unless it is launched for Germany, so what you practise on is the fast one.

A demo win is play money.

It stays inside the launcher and vanishes at the next timeout.

What Else Do Readers Ask?

These questions come from the first ten minutes in the launcher: sign-ups, timeouts, stakes and phones. Answers rest on what the demo did on and on Play'n GO's own rules text.

Do I need an account to open the launcher?

No. Play'n GO's site asks you to confirm you are of legal gambling age, and this page asks for an 18+ confirmation before loading it. The launcher itself creates no account, collects no e-mail and starts on a 25,000.00 play balance.

Why did the game stop and ask me to log on?

A session timeout. In our testing the demo timed out once, after several minutes of play, and relaunching from the game page opened a new one, again at 25,000.00.

Can I bet less than 1.00 a spin?

Yes, down to 0.01, which is one line, one coin and a 0.01 coin value. Fewer lines mean fewer paying lines for every symbol, expanders included.

Does the launcher work on a phone?

Play'n GO publishes a mobile channel of the same launcher. We played on desktop and have not tested it on a phone.

Which client version did the demo load?

The launcher loaded client 9.9.0-legacyofdead.545, game ID 416, on . A later visit may pick up a newer build without notice.
